THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES: 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION
Stone Soup Theatre
After 5 months of sold-out performances in 2005, Vagina Monologues is back at Stone Soup’s intimate UpStage Theatre. 5 years have passed; 5 additional monologues have been written and will be performed by a gender-diverse, multi-ethnic cast. Join us as we continue Eve Ensler’s crusade to end violence against women (50 words, 316 characters) through the eyes of a woman trapped in the wrong body, the Comfort Women of WWII-era Japan and many more!

In 2005, Stone Soup Theatre ran sold out performances of the Vagina Monologues for 5 months, a celebration of female sexuality in all its complexity and mysteries, guaranteeing no one who sees it will ever look at women’s bodies or think of sex in quite the same way again.
Five additional monologues have been written for a V-Day spotlight or situation in the world where women are totally at risk, raped, murdered or dismissed. A new chapter develops with a man who is transgendered after years of abuse and dismissal. The suffering of the woman trapped in the wrong body gives us a poignant look at how a vagina gave a man new life.
The 10th anniversary edition will be celebrated with The Vagina Monologues V, featuring the 5 never-before-published monologues directed by Tyrone Brown. These stunning additions to the original text are based on interviews with women in the Native American culture, the Comfort Women of 40’s Japan and a boy who wanted nothing more than to have a vagina among others.

Set once again in the intimacy of Stone Soup theatre’s Upstage space, the gender-diverse, multi-ethnic cast features the talents of Aiden Karamanyan, Frances Hearn, Geni Hawkins, Heather Ward, Janet Hietter, Joan Patrie, Melissa Malloy, Camille Campbell, Melissa Topscher, and Marisol Sanchez.

The production runs Thursdays – Sundays, April 2-25 with preview dates on Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, April 1; Sunday matinee performances on April 11, 18 and 25.
Evening showtimes are 8:00 pm, while matinees are at 2:00 pm. General admission prices are $16-20; $13 for those under 30.

Tickets are available for purchase at www.brownpapertickets.com, 800-838-3006 or
Stone Soup Box Office (206) 633-1883; www.stonesouptheatre.org

Quick tip ...

Art or business? If you want to make a 'GO' of it in theater - don't forget to use a little of both to make the best impression. Be professional to deal with and you'll get professional work. Be creative & flexible and people will want to work with you. Be a perfectionist in yourself up to a point - don't beat yourself up! You'll keep learning & be a better performer if you learn patience inside & out.
