Seattle Public Theater (SPT) is staging the world premiere of Seattle playwright Steven Roseta’s (Just Like) Starting Over, September 7-17, 2006. Presented by British director James Veitch, this dialogue-driven story is largely based on an unpublished interview with John and his wife Yoko Ono, granted hours before the music icon was tragically murdered outside his Manhattan apartment on December 8, 1980. A thirty-minute excerpt of (Just Like) Starting Over will debut at Bumbershoot 2006 on September 2nd. (Just Like) Starting Over is sponsored by Ludeman Capital Management and the Law Offices of Cowan Miller & Lederman.
Accompanying (Just Like) Starting Over will be the second John Lennon Jam, held at Seattle Public Theater on September 1. The first John Lennon Jam took place at the Crocodile Cafe on the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death on December 8, 2005. The show features a specially assembled “Jam” band of Seattle musicians to perform John Lennon’s Beatles tunes and solo music. The “Jam” band is fronted by Rick Lovrovich (Beatniks). Other members include Jakael Tristram (Hit Explosion), Jon Bolton (Beatniks, Herding Cats) Mike Mattenly (Herding Cats) and Johnny Jones. Proceeds will benefit (Just Like) Starting Over.
Show times for
(Just Like) Starting Over are September 7-17, 2006, Thursday-Saturday at 7:30pm with Sunday matinee at 2pm. Tickets are $24-$14. Showtimes for the John Lennon Jam are September 1 at 7pm and 9:30pm, with advanced tickets $15 and day-of-show $20.
