Dreaming In Spanish by John Sparks

"Dreaming In Spanish" is a short film made up of three scenes from a feature-length script. The completed short will be used to promote and secure funding for the feature. It is a love story, by turns comedic, dramatic, and surreal. It tells the tale of two women in Portland, Oregon who set out to adopt and raise an unusual child.

Characters needed include Mel, (30’s) passionate, confident, a spiritual rebel. She wants nothing more than to adopt a child with Joey and start a family. No longer a practicing Catholic, she remains fascinated with St. Teresa of Avila, who appears often in her increasingly lucid dreams. Joey, (20’s) skeptical, no-nonsense, tough-talking but secretly vulnerable. She is as down-to-earth as Mel is fanciful. The thought of settling down and starting a family terrifies her, but she’s so in love with Mel that she’s willing to give it a try.

The auditions will be held Saturday, April 11th, 10am-3pm, Sunday, April 12th, 10am-3pm located at The Seattle Film Institute, 3210 16th Ave W, Seattle, WA 98119.

The MOTHER [white female, 40-60] The father’s ex-wife and mother of Charlie and Tilda. Three lines.
GEORGE [non-white male, 40-60] Fiancée of the mother. Two lines.

XtraMath website seeking Spanish-speaking

Our Seattle-based, non-profit company, XtraMath (www.XtraMath.org), is looking for a local, native Spanish-speaking actor, male or female, to appear in our online videos as the math coach — a character known as “Mr. C.” As you can see from our videos https://vimeo.com/84994452, Mr. C is a friendly, open, approachable teacher who explains to students how to use the website and encourages them in their progress. The videos will be seen by millions of kids in the United States and around the world, and will inspire many to higher math achievement. We are looking for someone who is: --male or female, 25-45 years old --a native Spanish speaker with neutral accent --comfortable in front of the camera --has the poise of a friendly, experienced teacher

The “audition” will consist of a very short video of the actor reading the following script. The easiest way to send a video is by using a smartphone and sharing it directly with me via email, jennifer@xtramath.org.

Alternately, you can upload a video to YouTube and send me a link. Here are some sample instructions: http://www.wikihow.com/Upload-a-Video-to-YouTube. We recommend the “unlisted” privacy option. Either way is fine. We promise not to share your video with anyone else.

For casting I do not care about race as any is welcome I am looking for someone with longer hair but it is not needed. One morning she wakes up after a night of drinking at a party that will change her life forever. After the party she wakes up back at her apartment not knowing how she got home. Throughout the day she starts to notice some changes about herself as she slowly over the next few days. This film is a mix of drama and comedy combined with some suspense and a dash of sexiness.
