USHER IN A NEW SCHOOL YEAR WITH NEW ACTING SKILLS

As the tan fades and the summer nights get shorter, kick off a new season—and a new school year—with classes at Taproot Theatre’s Acting Studio. Going Deeper with the Basics, the first class offered by Taproot’s Professional Actor Conservatory, provides adults with scene work study that will help them delve into characters and deepen their storytelling skills. Taught by Los Angeles actor and director Marianne Savell, students will learn techniques and skills from a master storyteller that will unlock new doors in their performance ability.

Fall quarter runs September 9 through December 7. Registration is open now. Classes are held at Taproot Theatre (204 N 85th St.) and Timberlake Church-Ballard (1460 NW 73rd St.) in Seattle. Critical Threat Theatre

Saturday, July 9, 1-5 pm - Auditions will be held in Room E of Studio 4 at the Seattle Center, 305 Harrison Street, Seattle, WA 98109. Callbacks will be held Sunday, July 10, 10 am - 1 pm. If you are unable to make it to the initial audition, audition slots will be offered during the callback time on an as-available basis.

BREAKDOWN:

Actors of all ethnic backgrounds are welcome to audition for all roles.

All the characters are friends and players in a Dungeons & Dragons game. The play tells the story of what happens when one of the group enlists to go to Iraq, and the group comes apart as a consequence.

NOTE: With the *possible* exception of JOHN ALEX, none of these characters are stereotypical geeks. They are attractive, relatively well-adjusted adults who happen to play D&D

JOHN FRANCIS (This role has been CAST): Late 20s - early 30s, good-looking, intelligent. Sensitive and introspective. The Dungeon Master.

JOHN ALEX: Late 20s - early 30s, good comic timing, almost any type. JOHN FRANCIS's best friend. Curses almost as an artform. His character, SPANGO, is simpler and more heroic -- the man JOHN ALEX wishes to be.

JASON: Late 20s - early 30s. A sensitive, intelligent "jock". Should be handsome and athletic. One character calls him "A good Marine waiting to happen".

TARA: Late 20s - early 30s. A smart, attractive young woman with a huge (mutual, unconsummated) crush on JOHN FRANCIS.

LINDA (This role has been CAST): Late 30s - early 40s. A curvy Earth Mother-type. Curses like a sailor, totally at home in her own skin. The mother of the group. She and BRANDON are about a decade older than the others.

BRANDON: Late 30s - early 40s. LINDA's husband. Average dad, a Redskins fan. Doesn't care a whit about D&D, but plays because his wife loves it. Quiet, unassuming, and very wise.

Independent director needs actors of all types for Television Pilot
The auditions will be held as people apply until all roles are filled.

I need a group of actors versatile and energetic enough to make as many of these ideas come to life as we can. We need to have a good chemistry, a quick professionalism, and a determination to succeed. You gotta be funny, humble, and thick-skinned - and willing to call out the director (me!) or the producer (me again!) on his insanities. I'm looking, basically, for a team that really wants to make good television for a living and is willing to do what it takes to make it. I think I have the formula, I just need the brains and bodies! THAT'S YOU!
